Host a House Concert!

Many of my most rewarding performing experiences have been in private homes. The house concert has become quite a phenomenon here in the US that has gained traction over the last 30 or 40 years and is also becoming something of a “thing” all over the world. They began springing up mainly because folks were tired of going out to a noisy, smokey bar (happily many bars are non-smoking) or a crowded venue to see a favorite musician only to have the experience ruined by excessive noise, drunken patrons and imperfect non-listening conditions.

Folks started saying “enough!” and began hosting parties and inviting musicians to come play for their friends. A pass-the-hat payment model was employed and now there are house concerts everywhere. Some of these are more formal situations and some are very private events that are not open to the general public.

I have written up a page of simple instructions for anyone interested in hosting a house concert

If you are interested in hosting one either for me or for a musician that is a favorite, here are a few suggestions.
