Memories On a Saturday
I was going through some old songs from way-back-when and came across a few tracks from a group I was in called The EZ Pickin’ Band. The band was already in existence when I joined which would have been around 1981 or so. At the time I was doing the “chick singer in the corner” thing, playing guitar and singing songs in various bars in Redding, California. They were the typical bar gigs; no one listened, the pay was okay for back then ($50 a night. Don’t think it’s any better now) and I had to put up with drunken patrons. So joining this band was a great deal. Not only was I no longer solo, but I was singing with some pretty amazing musicians. I was still singing in bars, but with this group I had some company. We also had a lot of fun. I have lost touch with Julie, but still keep in touch with Paul and Rick. Scott is now in Merle Haggard’s band.
Here’s an old Gram Parsons song that we used to perform. Enjoy.
