The Electric Bill

Is down. A difference of $7 from last month’s bill was evident when I opened the envelope.

One of the ways I think we did this (besides the mild winter) is that our gas-fired furnace  puts out tons of heat in the basement. I decided to stop using the dryer and dry clothes the natural way. I have a bunch of wooden drying racks I purchased years ago and we also have a line strung up right next to the furnace. After the clothes are dry, I do put them in the dryer for about 10 minutes just to fluff them up so that jeans and t-shirts aren’t the consistency of cardboard.

The other thing I have done is I have put most of our electrical things (TV, stereo, lamps) on power strips and turn those off when we’re not using them.

It’s almost becoming a game: let’s see if next month I can save $10!
