Live Performance and Why It’s Important

My birthday was last Tuesday, August 15. On a fast trip to New York City, my husband and I attended a performance of “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812”. The evening was delightful, and I was reminded again about how the power of a live performance is like no other. No recording, either video or audio can come close to the magic that was experienced in that theater. Yes, this was a Broadway show, but I have also experienced that magic as an audience member in a small house concert. It is one way in which community can be created and continued.

Attendance for live music has been slowly decreasing in the last few years and certain genres of music seems to be taking the biggest hit, folk music included. I do hope that anyone reading this will venture out to a live performance of some kind, sometimes the smaller the better. It really is a moment in time that can never be repeated, but the memories do linger. I am still glowing from the fabulous performance of August 15, 207.

Take a look at my schedule and hopefully one of my performances will be happening near you. Hope to see you soon!
